Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef/chuck
  • 1 pkg onion soup mix
  • 1 pkg brown gravy mix
  • 1 tbsp Worstcheshire sauce
  • 1 md. onion optional
  • 1-2 tbsp butter for the sautéed onion

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix together the lean ground beef and onion soup mix. Use your hands to combine everything without overmixing (overmixing can make the patties tough).
Optional: Slice up an onion into rings and melt 1-2 Tbsp. of butter (med. to high heat) in a skillet. Add onions and cook for 5 to 7 minutes or until tender, stirring often to prevent burning.
  • Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, slightly flattening them for even cooking.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the patties. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Drain/remove any excess grease from the skillet.
  • While the patties are cooking, make the gravy, according to the direction on the package. Add 1 Tbsp of Worstcheshire sauce to the gravy for an added punch of flavor.
When it's done, pour the gravy over the patties and let them simmer for another 2-3 minutes so they soak up all that delicious flavor.
  • Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles for a complete, comforting meal. If you sautéed the onions, serve on top of the patty or on the side.
