How To Make The Best Chocolate Oreo Poke Cake
Oreo Poke Cake is a chocolatey delight that will satisfy any sweet tooth! It’s easy to make & extremely gratifying for any choc-a-holic! All it requires is a chocolate cake, delicious Oreo pudding, creamy whipped topping and Oreos, of course! Great for parties, backyard BBQs or any occasion!
As a matter of fact, my sweet little grandson asked for this cake for his birthday, a couple of weeks ago and you know this Gigi had to oblige. The cake turned out beautiful and it tastes totally ah-mazing!
To cut the cost a little, I used store brand ‘Oreos’ (They taste exactly like the name brand) and to cut the sugar & fat, I used zero sugar Cool Whip and skim milk for the pudding. (I try to save any where I can!)
This is what’s nice about this recipe. You can tweak it to your liking without sacrificing the taste!

Let’s make a Chocolate Oreo Poke Cake!
Poke cakes are some of the most versatile cakes you can make and I LOVE experimenting with different mixes and fillings because you achieve some amazing flavors. This one happens to be one of my favorites, though!
INGREDIENTS:
- Chocolate cake mix
- Water, eggs & oil
- Instant Oreo pudding mix (2)
- Milk
- Whipped topping (I use Cool Whip)
- Oreos, crushed (You can also substitute store brand)
- Chocolate Syrup (optional)
Bake the cake
Spray a 13 x 9 baking dish with a light coat of cooking spray. Prepare the cake mix and bake the cake using the instructions of the cake mix box. Once the cake is done, let it cool and then poke holes in the top using the handle of a wooden spoon.
Make the pudding
Next, make the Oreo pudding with 2 boxes of pudding mix and 3 cups of cold milk. Blend the milk with the pudding mix but don’t over blend. Normally you would want the pudding to be thick, but for this recipe, you want it to be a little thinner. If the pudding is too thick, it will make it harder to seep down into the holes.
Pour the pudding over the top of the cake and spread it evenly.
Spread the whipped topping
Spread the whole tub of whipped topping over the pudding and top with crushed Oreos. If you’d like to add a little more chocolatey goodness, squeeze chocolate syrup over the top for garnish, but that’s totally optional, though.
Serve & enjoy!
This cake is great for birthday parties, potlucks, holidays or when you have guests coming to visit AND it also goes great with a big glass of cold milk! Oreo Poke Cake is even better the next day (if you have any left) as the longer the pudding has to absorb into the cake, the more moist and gooey it is.
It’s a crowd pleaser, for sure!
**Tips**
- If you can, make ahead of time. This will give the pudding time to really soak into the and all the delicious flavors to meld.
