The Best Things To Buy In June

Father’s day gifts

Father’s Day is the main holiday to celebrate this month and with good reason! This special day gives us an opportunity to honor and appreciate those special men in our lives.

Most retailers know that shopping for dad can be a daunting task.  So many men that I know are not the easiest to shop for.

You should be able to find plenty of sales on grilling equipment & a plethora of tools of all kinds. Be sure to start checking the weekly sales flyers for Home Depot, Lowe’s and Harbour Freight. You will see some of the biggest discount with these retailers for these products.

You will also find great bargains on men’s apparel, just about everywhere starting in June.

Bath & Body Works products

Bath and Body Works has 2 semi annual sales per year, usually right after Christmas and in June. I’ve heard that the next Bath & Body Works Semi-Annual Sale will kick off beginning on June 1, 2024.

Be sure to sign up for email notifications and also take advantage of monthly coupon deals.  I usually get coupons in the mail for 20-25% off an entire purchase AND coupons for a FREE product (value $7.50). Bath and Body will let you use these coupons together, as well.

Also, check out other retailers for bath & body products for competitor pricing.

Spring apparel

If your wardrobe needs a facelift, be ready to shop spring clearance clothing this month. With summer in full swing, retailers will be deeply discounting last season’s items.  Many spring items will flow right into the summer season and no one will be the wiser.

Lingerie

June comes in as a great month for sale prices on lingerie.  Victoria’s Secret has become known for their summer semi-annual sale that usually happens during June, which is part of the reason why lingerie pieces are on the must-buy list for the month. Watch for discounts to be around 50% off on items like underwear, bras, sleepwear, panties and possible even swim wear.

Workout apparel

January isn’t the only time of year that workout apparel & gear go on sale. June is when many are preparing to go on vacation and wanting to get back into that bathing suit! Retailers will be trying to entice shoppers by dropping their prices on activewear making it a perfect chance to snag some great bargains!

Cookware/kitchen gear/dishes

Cookware & kitchen gadgets may be the last thing on your mind right now, but June signals the beginning of wedding season. You can be sure retailers will be offering great deals this month because this is what most brides will have at the top of their wish list! So, if you’re wanting or needing to upgrade your own current set, now’s the time to do it!

I did this recently with my cookware that I had for years! After many years of marriage, I felt it was time to invest in a decent set of cookware and I couldn’t be happier. I paid a little more, but if we take care of it, it will last for years to come.

Gym memberships

Most people don’t want to stay indoors to exercise when the weather warms up and gym memberships take a huge hit. The “New Years Resolutions” crowd has dwindled and gyms will be trying to lure new people in to fill the void. If you’d rather exercise in the comfort of an air conditioned space, now’s the time to look into getting that gym membership.

Sporting goods/camping gear

June is the best month to find discounted prices on camping gear. With Father’s Day falling in June and the Fourth of July right around the corner, shoppers historically see more consistent and stronger deals on outdoor gear versus any other month of the year. During this seasonal period, retailers who sell camping gear, like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Cabela’s & Bass Pro Shops, offer savings as deep as 50 percent off, but on average, camping and outdoor gear is around 25% off in June.

Movie tickets

Many movie theaters have what they call a “Summer Fun Fest”, beginning the 1st of June where they offer movie showings with heavily discounted tickets.

That’s what the theater is doing in my town. Every Tuesday & Wednesday, at 10:30am, all seats are only $1.00! They will do this starting May 31st through the middle of August. You can check your local theater to see if they offer this and treat yourself, your kiddos or your grands for something fun & cool to do.

In season produce

When it comes to what to buy in June for produce, there’s plenty to choose from! This includes berries, sweet corn, red peppers, green peppers, bell peppers, summer squash, zucchini, grapes, cherries, basil, arugula, apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums, and pears. Some (or most) of these fruits and vegetables freeze well, so take advantage of the sales and stock up!

WHAT NOT TO BUY IN June:

Laptops

You are going to see the first of the back to school sales come out toward the end of the month.  These are just the tip of the ice burg.  The prices will really start to really drop in from the middle of July to the middle of August, when it gets closer to the back to school season.

Summer apparel

If you’re needing to upgrade your summer wardrobe, now’s not the time.  Wait until end of season to see the best deals on summer attire.  Instead, try looking for spring attire in the clearance section.

Mattresses

Mattress manufacturers generally release their latest models in June each year. The period between June and September is incredibly popular for purchasing mattresses. This is when prices tend to be at their highest. The best time to shop is actually in the months immediately preceding this peak period, which would be May.

Grills

Summer is the time when everyone wants to fire up the grill and be outdoors.  But, if your grill is has seen better days or if you don’t have one, your best bet is to hold off until the fall. The prices will be much lower and you will see much better deals if you wait for clearance pricing.

Air conditioners

Beginning of summer is probably the worst time to buy an air conditioner. The prices go up along with the temperature. The time to find the best deals on new air conditioners (and HVAC services) is from late February into late March.

Amazon devices

If you’re looking for deals on Amazon, Prime day is usually the best time to buy.  This year, look for Prime Day sometime in mid July.

ONLY BUY IF YOU’RE ALREADY IN THE MARKET…

Like I always say in each of these “Best things to buy” posts…don’t rush out and spend money on these things because they may be on sale. But if you’re in the market for some of these items or you know you may be needing them next season anyway, early summer may be a good time to go over the “best things to buy in June” list and save some money!.
